PhD - Dissertation (Thesis) Proposal & Dissertation

Review of How to Write a PhD Dissertation Proposal by Mark Bond

This knol is review knol or knolstormed knol of  "How to Write a PhD Dissertation Proposal & a PhD Dissertation" of Mark bond. The knol is very elaborate. Mr. Bond has not revisisted his knol since 24th July. It will be good is he revisits and updates it.
Mark bond states in his paragraph that academics who approve or disapprove at thesis make a career out of being critical. But the basic theme  has to be that  these academics are making a career of developing scientists, in social and natural science subjects especially. Their comments at various seminars are aimed at initiating and nurturing the abilities of observation and relating observations. The observations are to be related in a such a way that they have predictive ability and utility. The relations have to be logical. Even a very experienced scientist can make a logical error. It can be the slip or an overenthusiasm to locate a relationship. Other scientists have to verify the relations proposed by a scientist for the logical correctness. The tutor or mentor as well as the committee members are partners in nurturing one more scientist rather than adversaries who are withholding a title from a person.
Bond writes, "One of the first things that you should notice is the level of detail that you must achieve in relation to a specific thesis and that is where you should first focus you energies on—identifying an appropriately refined thesis. Basically, if you thesis is specific enough and, better yet, is one that you are actually interested in then half the battle is over because you will enjoy doing the project.."  Bond rightly stated that thesis is the focus. Developing the thesis is the heart of a Ph.D. There are a large number of Ph.D.s which do not have a thesis developed by the researcher. These research efforts concentrate on empirical testing of existing thesis. Empirical testing is an important part of research work and research degrees are awarded for empirical studies that examine existing thesis.
There are Ph.D dissertations that concentrate on observations alone. The field could be so new that, a person who is able to collect the data or observations on the issue could submit his work for a Ph.D and obtain the degree.
An integrated research project involvoes observation, thesis development, its logical analysis and empirical testing of the testable hypothesis that is derived from the thesis.
